Oooh First Entry
Ah...My very first entry in my live journal. I've been meaning to type in this thing as soon as I got it. In fact, I would have my entire entry planned out in my mind, or rather, I would have played out the entire entry in my mind, but I never had the chance to type it out... Ok so now to the entry:
*Sigh* Graduation was nice. I had a few embarrassing moments, like not standing up when Kayla told us to get up and walking back into the wrong row after receiving my "diploma". I was pretty happy for the most part... not as excited as I expected myself to be... (I guess finals and cleaning the room killed that). I did shed a few tears (thank you, Padma). And I had a lot of fun with my cousins, especially the younger one (who's a girl). It's a great feeling to know that there's a little girl who thinks you are soooooooo awesome and pretty and wants to be just like you. *Sigh*
Yeah, so anyways, life was pretty hectic the day after graduation. My parents and my uncle woke me up at 6:00 AM on Saturday. My uncle, brother, parents, and I went to the dorm to finish taking my stuff to the car and cleaning like mad people. We pretty much cleaned everything in the room. I'm really glad that my family was there to help me, cuz I don't think I could have gotten the whole place cleaned in time without them. I was kind of worried around 8:20ish when my roommate still hadn't shown up. We had to check out at 9:00, and she still needed to pack her things, etc. I really didn't want her to get in trouble. Luckily she made it in time, and we checked out in time. I also got scolded by my mother for not picking up the iron that I had lent Charnelle. When I went in search of her, after my check out, I couldn't find her. I guess she forgot to leave the iron at the front desk like she had promised. According to my dad, it's only a $10 iron, it's no big deal. But now my mother is determined to make me more responsible, organized, etc... and by the end of this summer I'm going to know just about everything about house cleaning, organization, and Indian cooking. Boy, is that going to be fun or what? *sarcasm*
Afterwards, we went back to Suresh Uncle's hotel (the Best Western hotel on University), and packed our things and said our goodbyes (to uncle, etc) and, well left. I don't know how long it took us to get back home, because I had a terrible headache. So I slept for most of the way. Once we reached home, my mom made me dress up in a half sari and we left for the temple. I had received a scholarship from the temple, so my parents thought it would be nice for me to visit the temple after graduation and receive the cheque at the same time. Yeah, so we reach the temple and find out that our names aren't on the list of guests. See, this is a fancy fundraising event. My mother had told this guy that we were planning to come, and he promised to keep four tickets for us... but he didn't hold up his end of the deal. After many hassles, running around, etc we finally ended up getting the tickets.
To say the least, the program sucked. The food was terrible, the entertainment was terrible, and I felt terrible (partly because of the long ride home). I realized how left out I was going to be this summer. I also realized how stuck up some people are. Presently I wish Houston was Dallas, or vice versa. Most of my close friends are from the general Dallas area, so that means no hanging out with friends for me this summer. My Houston friends either live too far away or they are going out of town (or country) for the entire summer. This weekend, I'm speaking at a Graduation Luncheon that the Indian senior citizens of the area are giving. I'll truly miss all the TAMSters that day. Oh... I need to start working on that speech...
Oh yes, unfortunately my manipulating skills have become weak because I am definitely going to New Jersey this summer. I'm leaving on May 22. The ticket has been booked.
My mother, brother and I almost got killed today. It has been raining and thundering like crazy. Crazy to the point that we had to pull over for 45 minutes because it was raining so hard that we could hardly see and it felt like the car was about to tip over. The car also started vibrating after a blast of lightning struck a tree that we passing. And rather than thinking about God or what happened to the tree, the first thing that came to my mind was "Inside of car is the safest place during a lightning storm because the car is like a conductor...blah blah blah..." Stupid physics.
Wow... I didn't realize that my entry would be so long. I apologize for boring those of you who decided to read this entry. Here is a taste of my flavorless life, and sorry for giving your eyes the exercise of reading this. *Sigh*
